Dr Le Boyer is a seagoing physical oceanographer and part of the Multiscale Ocean Dynamics group at SIO/UCSD. Inside the team, he is developing the firmware and the data processing of the next generation of instruments measuring turbulence and the dissipation/mixing in the ocean: the EPSILOMETER. He intends to combine these observations with long time series (Velocity and Density) to study the connection between the scale where energy is injected in the Internal Gravity Wave Continuum  by the wind and tide (10 to 100 km) and the smaller scales (1 cm) where the dissipation occurs.
